$5.00
I Will Arise – words Joseph Hart 1759, traditional melody, arr. Peter Amidon 2012, verses 1 adapted and verses 2, 3 by P. Amidon, 2014.
You get piano/SATB and vocal score pdfs, mp3 of the recording, piano-only mp3, and four rehearsal track mp3s. Peter and Mary Alice Amidon have always loved this traditional melody, so much so that it shows up twice in this Choral Sheet Music Store, both in “I Will Arise” and in “Watts Cradle Hymn”. Peter adapted the first verse a bit from the original and wrote the second and third verses. The Guilford (VT) Community Church, UCC Choir, for which this arrangement was written, often sings this song during Lent. Lyrics below.
I Will Arise
Come ye people poor and needy,
weak and wounded, sick and sore,
Jesus patiently waits to save you
with compassion, love and pow’r.
I will arise and go to Jesus,
He will take me in his arms.
In the arms of my dear Savior,
oh there are ten thousand charms.
Love of Christ surpassing knowledge,
may your spirit strengthen mine;
May your healing love dwell in me,
that through faith my soul may shine.
God I fall on knees before you,
Christ I take you in my soul
After wand’ring lost and lonely
may your presence make me whole.
