When Jesus Came Home
from Mark 6: 1 - 13

When Jesus came home to synagogue,
When Jesus came home to his own,
His words filled his people with wonder:
Is this the same Jesus we’ve known?
The son of our carpenter Joseph,
Your brothers and sisters here too.
You come back home spouting such wisdom;
What’s become of the Jesus we knew?
“Prophets are not without honor,
Except when they’re with their own,
Prophets are not without honor,
Except when they return home”
He traveled from village to village
Teaching and curing the ill.
He called his disciples around him,
And sent them o’er valley and hill.
“Whenever you walk through a doorway,
Of those who are fit to receive,
You do all your heart says is needed
And stay there until you must leave.”
